Austrian packaging group Alpla (Hard; www.alpla.com) is acquiring blow-moulded packaging producer Bopla (Les Franqueses del Vallès / Spain; www.bopla.com), including its workforce of 50. The companies have not disclosed further information on the transaction. Alpla Iberica already has a plant in Les Franqueses del Vallès near Barcelona, which means merging the two facilities at least in the medium term should be possible.
Founded in 1978, Bopla produces bottles, ranging from 50 ml to 2 l in size, from LDPE, HDPE, PET and polyproplylene through extrusion blow moulding and injection stretch blow moulding. Its customers are mainly from the cosmetics as well as personal and household care products sectors. “We also want to make the most of the company’s many years of experience with single-step manufacturing processes to expand our portfolio,” says Marc de Voogd, general manager Alpla France and Iberia.
The latest investments of the Spanish company include a high-bay warehouse and a photovoltaic system.
