Expanding activities in key growth markets / New bottle manufacturing plants to be built in China and Brazil
Austrian packaging company Alpla Werke Alwin Lehner (Hard / Austria; www.alpla.com) is putting its money were the markets are growing. The company currently is building its tenth production plant in Brazil and its fourth one in China, a spokeswoman told Plasteurope.com. Alpla also officially inaugurated a new plant in India in July.
The new facilities in Rio de Janeiro and in southern Chinese Guangzhou are scheduled to begin producing HDPE and PET bottles for the cosmetics and household industry at the beginning of next year. Alpla’s plant in Hyderabad / India manufactures HDPE and PP closures, but also engages in extrusion blow moulding.
Aside from Rio de Janeiro, Alpla’s other Brazilian facilities are located in São Paulo Itapevi, Manaus, São Lapulo Louveira, Cuiabá, São Luis, Suape, Fortaleza, Teresina and Natal. Additional Chinese plants are located in Tianjin, Hefei and Shanghai. Alpla has a total of 128 offices and sites worldwide, employing some 10,800 workers.
