ALPEK
Acquisition of Petroquímica Suape and Citepe from Petrobras
Mexican petrochemicals group Alpek (Mexico City; www.alpek.com) is to acquire PTA / PET producers Petroquímica Suape and Citepe from Brazilian energy group Petrobras (Rio de Janeiro; www.petrobras.com.br/en) for USD 385m (EUR 365m).

The companies to be acquired operate an integrated PTA / PET facility in Ipojuca, Pernambuco / Brazil with an installed capacity of 700,000 t/y of PTA and 450,000 t/y of PET. Citepe also operates a 90,000 t/y texturised polyester filament plant on site.

The announcement follows scandal-ridden Petrobras' decision to cease all petrochemical activities (see Plasteurope.com of 23.09.2016).
