ALLIEDSIGNAL
Acquisition of Exxon PE wax know-how
AlliedSignal, Performance Additives (Haasrode Research Park, B-3001 Heverlee), a leading international producer of low molecular weight polyethylene waxes, has, through an agreement with Exxon Chemical, acquired the product and application know-how for Exxon Chemical's "Escomer" synthetic PE waxes, except for the H101 grades, which Exxon Chemical will continue to produce and sell. According to Dr Dirk Danneels, director of AlliedSignal's Performance Additives business in Europe, "Exxon Chemicals PE wax product and application technology is substantial and both fits with and enhances our own." "I have no doubt that the transfer of this technical know-how will allow us to meet the specific needs of former Escomer customers with matching products. I envisage it will enable us to offer a more comprehensive product line to all our customers," he said.
This acquisition will strengthen the position of AlliedSignal's Performance Additives business in Europe, as well as globally. AlliedSignal Performance Additives is part of the company's Engineered Materials sector which manufactures and sells fibers, plastics, other advanced materials and chemicals worldwide.
