Private equity firm OpenGate Capital (Los Angeles, California / USA; www.opengatecapital.com) has agreed to acquire Italy’s Alfatherm (Venegono Superiore; www.alfatherm.it), its sixth acquisition in the PVC industry to date. The purchase price was not disclosed. OpenGate’s previous investments in Europe include Kem One SAS, Kem One Innovative Vinyls, Benvic and Profialis – see Plasteurope.com of 10.08.2015. In March this year, it acquired Energi Fenestration Solutions, a North American producer of rigid PVC window profiles and patio doors.
Alfatherm claims to be Europe’s fourth largest manufacturer of rigid, semi-rigid and flexible PVC films and operates three sites in the Milan area. The company comprises five main business units: surface decorations, capsules and sleeves, packaging, adhesive tapes and stationery.
Andrew Nikou, OpenGate Capital’s CEO, said the group had built a significant presence in the European PVC sector and Alfatherm would benefit from its deep relationships and operational insight in the market.
