Commissioning of South Korean single-site catalyst plant completed
US speciality chemicals producer Albemarle (Baton Rouge, Louisiana; www.albemarle.com) has recently commissioned its new catalyst manufacturing plant at its Yeosu / South Korea facility. The plant produces commercial quantities of single site metallocene catalysts including grades enhanced by its proprietary "ActivCat" activation technology and now joins the company's US facility in Baton Rouge for production of singe-site catalysts.
The company announced that with this latest development, the Yeosu facility now offers a fully integrated platform to produce laboratory, pilot and commercial-scale quantities to support the needs of polyolefin producers globally.
On the occasion of the plant's start-up, Amy Hebert, a company vice president, noted, "We are not only increasing capacity and improving our portfolio, but we are bringing the finished product closer to our end-users".
