Takeover by French investment company PAI Partners complete
Private equity company PAI Partners (Paris / France; www.paipartners.com) has completed the acquisition of French cosmetics packaging manufacturer Albéa (Gennevilliers; www.albea-group.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 11.01.2018. Albéa CEO François Luscan said the buy makes up the "start of a new era" for Albéa.
An affiliate of Sun European Partners (London / UK; www.suncappart.com) acquired Albéa in 2010. Since that time, Sun European says there was a significant change in Albéa's performance with "capital expenditure leading to profitability improvement by over 80% along with a 600 basis point lift in margins." Albéa has completed numerous acquisitions since 2010. Most recently, it has acquired Covit (Torelló / Spain; www.covit.com), which manufactures metal parts for cosmetics packaging, from private equity fund PHI Industrial (Madrid / Spain; www.phi-industrial.com). In 2016, the French company took over laminate tubes producer Scandolara Tub-Est in Levice / Slovakia – see Plasteurope.com of 08.09.2016.
Albéa has 38 manufacturing sites in Europe, the Americas and Asia as well as two sales offices in New York City and Shanghai. According to the company, it offers the world’s largest range of cosmetics packaging. Preliminary figures show revenue in 2017 was at USD 1.49 bn (EUR 1.2 bn) and EBITDA at USD 190.5m – increases of about 7% and 10%, respectively.
