Initially, Akro-Plastic, Inc. is to take over “selected strategic tasks” previously performed by US distributor Chemigon (Akron, Ohio; www.chemigon.com) on behalf of the German company. Chemigon specialises in distribution and service for compounds, additives, and fillers. In future, Chemigon is to act as a distribution partner for the US Northeast.
Local production in the US is to follow in the medium term, although no date has been set yet for the start of production, as managing director Oliver Neuß said when asked by Plasteurope.com. The supervisory bodies of Akro-Plastic are to decide on the schedule within the next 12 months, but the decision on the start date would largely depend on the business performance of the North American subsidiary, Neuß added. He did not, however, provide further details on the plan.
