"Forex" rigid foam sheeting: Licence for China / Foam materials turnover DM 75m
Nanyang Industrial City Corporation, Shantou, China, has purchased a licence for the production of "Forex" rigid foam sheeting from Airex AG (CH-5643 Sins). The Nanyang Group, a private plastics conglomerate composed of 18 subsidiaries with 1,500 employees, intends to market "Forex" rigid foam sheets as a wood substitute. Production should start in the first half of 1995. China is the fourth country to receive licensing and marketing rights from Airex, and follows USA, South Korea and India.

Airex, founded in 1956, is a subsidiary of the Alusuisse-Lonza-Group (HQ: PO Box 495, CH-8034 Zürich) and a leading manufacturer of non-porous speciality foams from various plastic polymers. It supplies soft foam material for buoyancy in life jackets, padding in protective wear for collision sports, and mats for athletics and gymnastics as well as rigid foam sheeting for displays such as stand constructions, picture backing, notices or photo boxes, and flexible, highly resistant composites (sandwiches) which are very light and find applications in transportation by water, rail and road. Airex achieved a turnover of SFr 63m with 240 employees in 1993; the Managing Director is Rolf Kaufmann and the capital SFr 5m.
