To source raw materials for the European plastic recycling industry, Agilyx (Oslo, Norway; www.agilyx.com) has established the company Plastyx (www.plastyx.com). Under the leadership of Carlos Monreal, Plastyx will operate as a 60:40 joint venture with the technology company Circular Resources, as Agilyx reports.
Monreal, the former head of the Chemical Recycling Europe association and founder of Plastic Energy (London; www.plasticenergy.com), is also behind Circular Resources.

As a short-term goal, Plastyx aims to source 200,000 t of plastic waste by the end of this year. In recent years, the availability of consistently high-quality plastic waste has repeatedly proven to be a bottleneck for the growth of the European recycling industry. This was one of the reasons Agilyx discontinued a project for the chemical recycling of polystyrene last year.
