UK plastic packaging producer Aegg Creative Packaging (Andover; www.aegg.co.uk) has invested GBP 1.4m (about EUR 1.6m) in a new process to produce injection moulded 140 ml plastic pots for a dessert range that will be sold throughout UK supermarkets. Responding to the request from an unidentified customer, Aegg designed and built the relevant single cavity tool. Following a number of test runs, the company commissioned 16 tools for its client’s manufacturing site.
The machines and ancillaries are capable of running five days a week and can also operate 24/7 in the event of volume peaks, Aegg said.
The UK company produces packaging made of both glass and plastic. In the latter segment, it offers injection moulded and blow moulded pots that are sold across many UK supermarkets. The main polymers used are PS, PP, SAN and PET. Aegg said it plans to expand its blow moulded plastic packaging range this year, but did not provide further details.
