ADVANTEC
Highly scratch-resistant and transparent: “PolyglaXX” / Broad application range
Advantec Kunststoff- und Systemtechnik GmbH (Mühlstr. 41, D-71229 Leonberg) has presented the “PolyglaXX” family of transparent materials which unites the optic advantages of mineral glass with the fracture strength and processing potential of thermoplastics. The materials are claimed to be highly scratch resistant, offering absolute chemical resistance and retaining their optical and physical properties even under extreme loads. According to Advantec again, the quality characteristics of high-grade mineral glass have now been attained for the very first time.
Five different types cover a broad range of applications. These extend from inspection windows and doors for machines, via optically sophisticated advertising and interior displays, through to composites for safety glass. “DuraglaXX” resembles PC in terms of its fracture strength and heat resistance, while other types offer the surface gloss of PMMA. “PortaglaXX” based on SAN has already been in use for a year as insulating glazing in door structures (“Plustherm” concept).
The company, which was founded in December 1997, has 25 employees; Marcus Cremer is the managing director. Advantec develops and produces system solutions in the plastics engineering sector and sells plastic semi-finished products based on PMMA, PC, PVC, SAN and PS. The company headquarters are located in Leonberg, with the production and administrative departments, while the Bonn branch (Steinerstr. 3-5, D-53225 Bonn-Beuel) is responsible for marketing.
