US plastic pipes manufacturer Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS, Hilliard, Ohio; www.ads-pipe.com) has announced the acquisition of compatriot Infiltrator Water Technologies (Old Saybrook, Connecticut; www.infiltratorwater.com) from an affiliate of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Toronto, Ontario / Canada; www.otpp.com) and other stockholders. The purchase price is USD 1.08 bn (around EUR 972m).
Infiltrator products for the North American market include plastic leach field chambers and systems, septic tanks and accessories for residential applications. In 2018, the company generated revenue of approximately USD 275m and adjusted EBITDA of USD 89m, and it has been a partner of ADS for more than 15 years. According to the water system specialist, plastic septic chambers and tanks are gaining share faster than traditional products. It claims to have built three of the largest injection moulding machines in-house that manufacture among the biggest injection-moulded parts worldwide.
Through its subsidiary Champion Polymer Recycling (Winchester, Kentucky / USA), Infiltrator sources recycled polypropylene and polyethylene from post-consumer and post-industrial plastics waste. The company says 75% of its products are from recycled resin, which is approximately 68,000 t/y of recyclate.
Earlier in 2019, Infiltrator Water Technologies announced the buy of Presby Environmental (Whitefield, New Hampshire / USA; www.presbyeco.com), which manufactures plastic wastewater pipes and treatment systems.
