Fire protection phenolic resin introduced
Advanced Composites Group (ACG, Heanor, Derbyshire / UK; www.advanced-composites.com) has introduced a fire performance phenolic resin system available as a prepreg suitable for mass transit, industrial, and construction applications. “MTM82S-C” is claimed to offer excellent mechanical properties and fire performance in the -55 °C to +80 °C operating temperature range. Under fire conditions, MTM82S-C laminates show extremely low fire propagation and surface spread of flames together with low smoke and toxic gas emission, meeting the requirements of a number of British, French and German standards. The material is available for use with a wide range of carbon and glass fibre materials and is suitable for both monolithic and sandwich structures.
