The price and contract are not yet final, but Germany’s Adler Pelzer (Hagen; www.adlerpelzer.com) and France’s Faurecia (Nanterre; www.faurecia.com) have held exclusive talks about the sale of Faurecia’s acoustics and soft trims division. Under consideration are eight plants spread across Europe with a total of 1,800 employees in a unit that most recently generated sales of EUR 385m. The deal could also include a development centre in France, home country to four factories in the division.

The negotiations signal a decision to stay the course at Adler Pelzer, which posted EUR 1.4 bn in sales in 2020 and last year took over the acoustics segment of Germany’s STS (Hallbergmoos; www.sts.group – see Plasteurope.com of 18.11.2020).

In addition to the four French plants, the Faurecia unit includes one each in the UK, Luxembourg, Poland and Spain. A takeover could allow Adler Pelzer to, above all, expand its business with French automobile manufacturers Renault-Nissan and PeugeotCitroen PSA, the latter of which is now part of Stellantis with Fiat Chrysler; the German company could serve as a regional mainstay in Eastern Europe with the Polish plant.
