ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Evonik, Lehvoss partner on 3D print materials development
German speciality chemicals producer Evonik (Essen; www.evonik.com) and compatriot chemical and mineral specialties group Lehmann & Voss (Lehvoss, Hamburg; www.lehvoss.de) have announced a strategic partnership for 3D print materials. Lehvoss said it will create new Luvosint formulations for additive manufacturing based on Evonik’s polyamide 613.

Under the partnership, Lehvoss will include Evonik’s unreinforced Infinam PA 6005 P powder-based PA 613 in its Luvosint product line starting 1 September and produce its own 3D printing formulations from the grade, according to Evonik.

At less than 3%, Evonik’s Infinam polyamide has a low water absorption rate, which the company said has positive effects on both the processability in 3D printing and the dimensional stability of the printed component.

According to the companies, Levhoss developed a Luvosint carbon fiber reinforced powder variant for laser sintering created from Evonik’s PA 613 base polymer.
