Belgian company Abriso (Anzegem), a producer of extruded polyethylene foams, bubble wrap and XPS sheets, has been renamed Abriso-Jiffy (Anzegem; www.abrisojiffy.com) since February 2020. The rebranding comes after the acquisition of Airpack (Ossago Lodigiano / Italy; www.airpack.it) along with the Italian company’s subsidiaries Jiffy Packaging and TAP Telion (Braunschweig / Germany; www.taptelion.de – see Plasteurope.com of 21.06.2019).
Abriso was founded in 1985 and contributes nine locations with a workforce of around 650 to the new company. It recently generated a turnover of EUR 103m. Founded in 1993, Jiffy had 990 employees at 10 locations and an annual turnover of EUR 146m.
The two companies had a total of 17 production sites and two sales offices, CEO Jan Dejonghe told Plasteurope.com. Following the acquisition in 2019, a site in Bopfingen / Germany was closed and two sites in Romania were merged. Abriso-Jiffy now has 15 production sites and 1,550 employees. The company operates plants in Belgium (2), the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary (2), Italy, Poland (3), Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and the UK. Its annual turnover is about EUR 250m.
Dejonghe said Abrise-Jiffy is progressively replacing non-recyclable with recyclable plastics in its products. For example, the company is increasing its use of XPS and expanded PE instead of polyurethane/PIR in its protective packaging.
