The construction of a second Turkish plant near Düzce is progressing as planned, according to Kimteks Poliüretan (Kimpur, Istanbul; www.kimpur.com). At the site, the polyurethane systems supplier is building facilities with a capacity of 65,000 t/y for PU systems, EVA, and polyols by 2024 (see Plasteurope.com of 13.04.2022). The start-up of the first machines is set for late 2023.
The project is being financed with the proceeds of an April IPO, which included a capital increase estimated at just under TRY 1 bn (EUR 54.8 mn).
In the first half of the year, the company reported turnover of TRY 2.2 bn, more than double the same period last year. EBITDA increased 140% to TRY 416 mn. Kimpur, which claims to be Turkey‘s leading 100% domestic polyurethane system manufacturer, announced sales volume of around 51,000 t of PU systems, about one-third of which went into exports. The company said it serves more than 45 countries.
Additionally, Kimpur has expanded its activities to include the distribution of Wanthane TPU from Chinese manufacturer Wanhua for the Turkish shoe industry.
The Istanbul-based supplier said it continues to develop its environmentally friendly product portfolio. For this purpose, the company recently launched a halogen-free, bio-based sandwich panel system called KIMrigid for the production of PU foam. It is said to have high fire resistance and good thermal insulation properties.
