Recycler and waste management provider Biffa (High Wycombe / UK; www.biffa.co.uk) has opened its new GBP 27.5m (around EUR 32.7m) PET bottle recycling facility in Seaham / UK. The plant has a capacity to convert 57,000 t/y of PET, which Biffa says is equivalent to 1.3 bn plastic bottles. Its Seaham site is to process PET into high-purity pellets to be sold to drinks makers and other manufacturers to use in applications such as food and beverage packaging or clothing.
