Wavin (Zwolle / The Netherlands; www.wavin.com) CEO Maarten Roef has been appointed the new president of the European Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association (TEPPFA, Brussels / Belgium; www.teppfa.eu). He succeeds Niels Rune Solgaard-Nielsen of Pipelife (Wiener Neudorf / Austria; www.pipelife.com), who had been president since 2013 (see Plasteurope.com of 02.05.2013).
In his term Roef plans to focus on “creating a greater understanding and acknowledgement of the part that the plastic pipe industry can play in meeting the ambitions for a circular economy.” He pointed not only to the benefits plastic pipes bring to people’s wellbeing – including in sanitation and water supply – but also to their long lifespan and recyclability.
Roef has been active in TEPPFA, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, for the past 15 years.
