US compounder RTP (Winona, Minnesota; www.rtpcompany.com) has apparently withdrawn its application for building a plant in Skibbereen / Ireland. The planning of the facility faced delays in the summer – see Plasteurope.com of 08.08.2019 – with strong opposition campaigning from local group Save Our Skibbereen (SOS; www.saveourskibbereen.ie). The company declined to comment on the matter.
According to SOS, An Bord Pleanála, the local body responsible for the determination of planning appeals and other matters, informed the protest group that RTP withdrew the application for the factory and “the case is now closed.” Arguing on grounds that the plant would have a negative impact on the environment, the protestors have been supported by high-profile players including English actor Jeremy Irons and film producer David Puttnam.
RTP currently has three compounding facilities in Europe. These are located in Beaune / France, Ladenburg / Germany and Wrocławska / Poland.
