India no longer imposing punitive duties on imports from the EU and Mexico

India has now phased out the anti-dumping duties that it imposed in 2014 on imports of S-PVC from the EU and Mexico. Five years ago, the country’s Ministry of Finance introduced special duties of between USD 39/t and USD 200/t (EUR 35/t and EUR 180/t). A new review of the situation was not initiated, and the corresponding duties ceased to apply in June 2019, a ministry spokesperson told Plasteurope.com. This could now mark the revival of a sales market for European exporters.
In the first six months of 2019, India was the biggest customer for PVC from China – see Plasteurope.com of 18.09.2019 – although these imports are similarly subject to punitive tariffs in the same way as US goods. Similar anti-dumping measures against Thailand ended in summer 2019.
