Swedish additives manufacturer secures patent for Reactive Recycling technology
Nexam Chemical (Lomma, Sweden; www.nexamchemical.com) said it has received a patent for its Reactive Recycling technology in Sweden, meaning that companies can improve the process properties of recycled polypropylene. The firm said patent application process for other territories was “ongoing”.

Nexam said that by adding its Reactive Recycling solution “after the mechanical recycling process, it would be possible to upcycle waste plastics and enable a larger proportion of recycled plastic or applications that otherwise weren’t possible with the current quality”.

Christer Svanberg, Nexam Chemical’s chief technology officer, said, “It is an important step towards a more circular economy and opens up completely new market areas for us.
