Ineos Styrolution (Frankfurt / Germany; www.ineos-styrolution.com) has introduced a grade of acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) resin that it regards as the “material of choice” for metal-plastic combinations and structural parts for outdoor applications such as window facades.
“Luran S 778T G2 UV" is an 8% glass fibre-reinforced ASA grade that Ineos says offers a clear advantage in terms of UV resistance and shrinkage compared to other plastic alternatives, providing excellent weathering ability, a high surface quality and high dimensional stability. The material comes pre-coloured, eliminating the need for painting.
Volker Pieper, industry development manager Styrenics Specialties Europe, Middle East and Africa, says the material has been received “very positively” by customers and first applications have already been commercialised.
Ineos Styrolution announced in July 2019 that it had started building a new ASA plant in Bayport, Texas / USA – see Plasteurope.com of 14.08.2019.
