Masterbatches producer and compounder Grafe (Blankenhain / Germany; www.grafe.com) has developed a new flame retardant for polycarbonate. The product, which contains neither halogen nor phosphorus, achieves the flame retardancy standard UL94-V0 classification at comparatively low dosages, says the company. The product is designed for opaque applications, such as electronic components, battery applications or claddings in passenger cars and trucks.

Grafe offers another development in the field of halogen-free flame retardant masterbatches for PET. It said the newly developed PET flame retardant masterbatch makes it possible to achieve the UL94-V0 classification with an addition of 10%. With this comparatively small content, the company said effective flame retardancy can be achieved with the PET-C variant when small electrical parts are used.
