Plastics processor Craemer (Herzebrock-Carlhorz / Germany; www.craemer.com) has set up a second injection moulding plant in Telford / UK for the production of wheelie bins, pallets as well as storage and transport containers. The German firm is investing GBP 25m (EUR 29m) in the site to add new products to Craemer UK’s range of four-wheeled commercial waste bins and pallet boxes, which until recently could only be manufactured at the group’s German headquarters.
The new facility covers about half of a 5.3-hectare plot of land, which it bought in 2017, consisting of a 6,000 m² production and storage hall, plus technical, outdoor facilities and office and social areas. Production has started with three injection moulding machines, with more to follow as business develops. Once it is at full capacity, the plant will create up to 70 jobs and help safeguard the 65 positions at group’s original "B" site, a kilometre away. Steve Poppitt, managing director of Craemer UK, said, “The expansion has already generating over 30 new jobs at Telford as a direct result of site B development and there will be more by the end of this year.
The Craemer group has four production sites in three European countries and employs a staff of nearly 1,000. In 2018, it achieved a total operating performance of around EUR 275m.
