Flexible packaging manufacturer Coveris (Vienna / Austria; www.coveris.com) is stepping up its engagement in the food packaging sector. The company that claims to be one of the few players able to produce the entire range of packaging in this market segment is streamlining its strategic focus under new CEO Jakob Mosser, with capacity expansions under way in France and Germany.

At its Neuwied / Germany site, Coveris is upgrading capacity in assembly and cylinder engraving as part of an ongoing programme of improvements planned to be completed by the end of 2019. At its specialised production site for pet food packaging at Firminy / France, where stand-up pouch production started in late 2018, the company is launching a new flat pouch system for dry food to be completed this month. This will enable it to offer the entire range of plastic and paper solutions.
