Plastic, glass and metal containers and closures supplier Berlin Packaging (Chicago, Illinois / USA; www.berlinpackaging.com) has announced plans to acquire Novio Packaging (Wijchen / The Netherlands; www.novio.eu). It said the transaction will combine Novio Packaging’s northern European plastic and glass business with Berlin Packaging’s southern European speciality glass and closures business. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Financial details were not disclosed.
In particular, Berlin Packaging said the acquisition will strengthen its European plastic offering in the personal care, pharmaceutical, food, and sports nutrition sectors. The company’s European operations comprise speciality glass market division Bruni Glass, closures division Bruni Erben, and four other companies acquired in 2019 – see Plasteurope.com of 10.09.2019.
With several offices across northern Europe and approximately 160 employees, Novio Packaging has completed four acquisitions in the past two years. In January it announced the acquisition of German company Flacopac (Deizisau; www.flacopac.com) and its Swiss sister firm Deflaco – see Plasteurope.com of 24.01.2019.
Erik Trum and Marck Jansen, the founders and managing directors of Novio Packaging, will continue in their current roles. They said in a statement. “By joining forces with a global powerhouse like Berlin Packaging, we are drastically accelerating the business, and this will provide substantial benefits to our customers, suppliers, and employees.”
