Spanish injection moulder sets up plant in Mexico
Automotive components manufacturer Array Plàstics (Barcelona / Spain; www.arrayplastics.com) is expanding its production in the Mexican state of Querétaro. The plant is expected to be operational in September 2019.
Total investment in the expansion is EUR 2.15m, with state-owned trading firm Cofides (Madrid / Spain; www.cofides.es) contributing EUR 1.5m. Cofides has a fund named “Fonpyme” for Spanish SMEs that undertake investment projects overseas.

Commenting on the company’s new branch, Array Plàstics managing director Guerau Carné says, “We want to transfer to Mexico our whole 4.0 production system, visual quality control and quality control management methodology right from the start in order to meet the needs of our demanding clients in the automotive sector.”
Array Plàstics was founded in 1992 in Barcelona. In 2018, the Catalan company generated turnover of EUR 16.9m and has around 125 employees. It has 29 injection moulding machines and focuses on manufacturing plastic components for the automotive industry, such as electric vehicle parts, fluid conduits for air, brake fluid and water as well as interior and exterior lights. Along with electronics manufacturer Elausa (Barcelona; www.elausa.com), the two companies are part of a group that produces electromechanical components, plastic parts and finished products for such sectors including automotive, sports and health care.
